Note for faculty: If you are interested in having your student present at this event, contact us at ug.research@wsu.edu

For Students: How to Prepare a Research Poster

  1. Work with a mentor to develop and implement a 10-week summer research project.
  2. Complete as much of the research as possible in a timely fashion.
  3. Write and submit an abstract to ug.research@wsu.edu for the poster session.
  4. Attend our annual poster design workshop.
  5. Design a poster to be printed at the Large Format Printing Service Center. Remember that it takes time to print a poster, and you will not be the only person with a print job waiting in the print shop’s queue. So be mindful of any deadlines!
  6. Pick up poster the day before the event.
  7. Get dressed up and come ready to talk about your research.

Poster-Making Resources

Download Poster templates and WSU Logos from the Large Format Print Center in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

Abstract Examples

Read abstracts from past poster sessions to get a better idea of how abstracts are written. A good abstract will provide a brief but interesting overview of what you uncovered through your research. It will impress your reader and make them want to know more about your work. If you want to learn more about how to write a strong abstract, you can consult the abstract writing tips availabile on the SURCA website.
