Summer Undergraduate Research Programming

June 2, 2023 - August 4, 2023

Each summer, dozens of undergraduate researchers in STEM disciplines come to WSU Pullman to participate in projects with leading WSU faculty researchers. The students come from many colleges across the U.S.—some are even from WSU! For about 10 weeks, they work in labs, on field assignments, and with teammates on fascinating, important research with their mentors. Many summer research projects are federally funded, including some NSF-supported Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), while others may be supported by professors’ own grants. In addition to their research, the students get to experience the “Palouse region” of the country where WSU Pullman is located, attend Summer Undergraduate Research Program weekly events, and have fun with fellow researchers. On the final Friday of their time in Pullman, the students share their work at a public poster event called the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium—this year set for Aug. 4 in the CUE Atrium. The WSU Office of Undergraduate Research helps to coordinate activities and support the learning experiences throughout the summer.
