SUMMARY:CUR Biology travel grant app deadline
DESCRIPTION:The Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) Biology Division is offering a limited number of travel grants of up to $250 each for undergraduate students presenting original\, biological research results at a regional or national\, discipline-specific meeting during fiscal year 2017-2018. Award recipients are required to acknowledge CUR for support of their travel in their talk or poster\, to complete an online survey about their meeting experience\, and to submit a PDF file of their poster. Minority students are encouraged to apply. Submission deadlines are September 1\, 2017 (for meetings held in mid-Sept 2017 to mid-Feb 2018) and January 12\, 2018 (for meetings held in mid-Feb to late June 2018). DESCRIPTION:The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicano/Hispanic and Native American scientists\, from college students to professionals\, in attaining advanced degrees\, careers\, and positions of leadership in STEM. Undergraduate researchers are invited to apply to present their research during a judged poster session at the October 2017 conference; abstracts must be submitted online by the deadline.

SUMMARY:ABRCMS abstract submissions open
DESCRIPTION:From April 5 through Sept. 8\, 2017\, students can submit abstracts to make a poster or oral presentation at the November 2017 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS). ABRCMS is one of the largest communities of underrepresented minorities in science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics. Students attend this conference to present their research\, explore graduate schools\, and network. Research faculty and program directors play an essential role in mentoring students and strategies for facilitating student success. \nDuring the four-day conference\, more than 1\,800 students from over 350 colleges and universities participate in poster and oral presentations in 12 STEM disciplines. All undergraduate student presentations are judged and those receiving the highest scores in each scientific discipline will be given an award during the closing banquet.
